Rome Radio Debate: Gasperini Views Koné as More Expendable Than Other Squad Members
Rome's radio stations have dissected Gasperini's recent comments on Koné, with analysts interpreting his remarks as a signal that the midfielder could leave the club. Lorenzo Pes, speaking on Tele Radio Stereo, said: "In his head he is the most substitutable of the others. For him the midfield can be adjusted, he thought so last year and thinks so now. Gasp is aware that Koné is on the market, then Roma will have to be good at raising the price." The debate centres on Roma's transfer activity ahead of the new season. Francesco Balzani criticised the club's sluggish recruitment, saying Gasperini expected at least one signing by the start of pre-season. He argued that if no deal closes by Sunday—when a friendly is scheduled—Gasperini will make his discontent public. Balzani identified Moreira as his preferred target, describing him as "a very great signing, even if a step back from Greenwood," and suggested Garnacho could work on loan. Francesca Ferrazza expressed concern over the delayed settlement agreement, noting it prevents Roma committing to significant signings until they secure funds from player sales. Roberto Pruzzo warned that Roma must prepare to replace Koné and monitor the entire midfield, questioning the durability of Bryan Cristante's fitness given his age. On Paulo Dybala's contract extension, multiple panellists backed the one-year renewal as the correct approach, allowing the field to determine whether further terms are warranted.
