About Authentic AS Roma

Italian football covered in English — for Roma fans who don't want the story filtered through someone else's eyes.

Welcome to this wonderful digital piazza with all the latest news about our beloved Giallorossi.

We all have a reason why AS Roma has called to us. For me it was a young Francesco Totti who led me to Rome. I fell in love with the idea that someone could choose badge over bank account, heart over wallet, passion and emotion over logical career progression — I fell forever in love with the club that was and is the heart of Rome.

Over the last three decades, this passion led me to move to Rome for a period, learn Italian, attend countless matches at the Stadio, deepen my understanding of the history and culture of the club and its Roman supporters — and of course it has led me to laugh and cry and grow as a person. Grazie Roma.

I created Authentic Roma for one reason. I wanted to receive my news about the club not from outsiders or English-speaking media, but from authentic sources in Rome — Romans talking about Roma.

Many Roma fans don't speak Italian but want to be part of the culture, part of the Roma ecosystem, getting their information not from someone watching the games abroad but from the same sources that Romans read over their morning coffee or listen to during the rush hour as they navigate Centocelle, Testaccio, Monti, Tor Pignattara or Trastevere. Because one cannot truly be a real tifoso without deepening their connection to the city — AS Roma is Rome. It is Venditti, it is Conidi, it is the locals who give the club its magic.

This site doesn't offer my opinions or ideas, but rather gathers local Italian sources and provides an English summary alongside a link to the original, allowing you — and the powers of Google Translate — to explore further. In this way, I hope to give you a more authentic experience while driving traffic to the real conversations happening on the beautifully alive streets of Rome.

"Cosa sei per me, spiegarlo non è facile / Una parola sola, tu sei la Roma"

"What you are to me, it's not easy to explain / One single word — you are Roma." — Marco Conidi

Roma is a feeling, and that feeling comes from the streets and the people of Rome.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our little piazza — and Daje Roma Daje!
