Bryan Cristante
Bryan Cristante is the captain of AS Roma — a fact that reflects everything about who he has become since joining the club in 2018. Born in San Vito al Tagliamento, he was a prodigy who made his Champions League debut for AC Milan at just 16 years old. He then developed at Benfica, winning two Primeira Liga titles, before a breakout spell at Atalanta that saw him score 15 goals in 18 months under Gian Piero Gasperini and earn a move to Roma.
He is a player defined by intelligence, versatility, and relentless professionalism. Originally a technical, deep-lying playmaker, Cristante evolved into a complete central midfielder capable of doing the unglamorous work — winning the ball, covering ground, shielding the defence — as well as contributing with goals from deep positions. He has even played centre-back in emergencies, a testament to his tactical understanding.
Internationally, he was part of Italy's Euro 2020-winning squad and has over 48 caps. But his truest identity is as a Roman. He leads by example, trains without ego, and commands the respect of his teammates. When the captain's armband went on his arm, it felt inevitable.
