The Friedkin Group's long-planned project reached its final administrative checkpoint when Massimo Sessa, the government's extraordinary commissioner for Euro 2032 stadiums, presided over the conference involving approximately 50 institutional and technical representatives, including officials from relevant ministries, the State Superintendence, Roma's delegation, and representatives from Rome City Council and the Lazio Region. The green light issued at today's 10:30 meeting represents the last step before construction can begin. The new stadium will hold 60,605 supporters, with the Curva Sud—the heart of Roma's ultras—designed to accommodate 23,000 fans, making it one of Europe's largest. The site will feature green spaces, cycling and pedestrian paths, and urban development works that will transform the area. The build schedule targets the laying of the first stone in March 2027, with completion targeted for 2031, the year when Roma's first match at the venue is expected to be played.
