Roma remembers Franco Sensi 18 years after his death
AS Roma marked the anniversary of Franco Sensi's death on 17 August, posting a tribute on social media 18 years after his passing. The club wrote: "On 17 August 2008 president Franco Sensi left us," accompanied by a photograph from the club's archives and yellow and red hearts. Sensi acquired control of Roma's majority shareholding in May 1993 alongside Pietro Mezzaroma, and became sole owner and president from 8 November 1993. He was the club's 18th president and its longest-serving. During his stewardship Roma won one Serie A title (2000–01), two Coppa Italia trophies (2006–07 and 2007–08) and two Supercoppe italiane (2001 and 2007). From late 2004, day-to-day management passed to his daughter Rosella, who became official chief executive. Sensi died at the age of 82 at Policlinico Gemelli hospital, where he had been admitted for respiratory problems. Rosella posted on Instagram: "Goodbye dad, it has been 18 years since you left us but you are missed immensely every day."
