Radio Roma hosts offered contrasting views on tonight's Champions League match between Roma and Real Madrid at the Olimpico, with Gian Piero Gasperini emerging as a focal point of confidence despite the scale of the challenge ahead. Checco Oddo Casano identified a tactical opportunity: "Malen could do important things because in my view Huijsen is not a great marker — for me he is a weak point of Real Madrid and Malen could put him in difficulty." Mario Corsi struck a more cautious tone, saying: "If we read Real Madrid's line-up, we understand they are stronger than Roma, there's no point denying it. If Roma win, Gasperini wins — he has changed the situation. The only chance we have is to have an extraordinary coach. If we were to win, it is Gasperini." Francesca Ferrazza assessed the mood as weighted toward the return of José Mourinho rather than the sporting battle itself: "I would say there is more tension in the environment for Mourinho's return than for the match. You go somewhat resigned, you go to the stadium to see the spectacle and the great players, not because you think you can pull it off."
Gasperini's appointment has shifted expectations at Roma. Lorenzo Pes noted: "Gasperini is waiting to understand who he can sign up front to complete the squad. The manager's determination surprises me — he is going very straight on that aspect and expects concrete answers from the Friedkins. Tonight I expect a high-level match where everyone will give that extra bit. Gasperini will keep his identity intact. I expect a beautiful match, with Roma conscious of their own means, playing their game while knowing there is a difference in technical values." Roberto Pruzzo urged caution: "I would be very careful about Roma and Como's matches after yesterday's results, but the teams are able to give signals in a European context where Italian sides are sidelined. I would go cautiously, trying to understand as we go what the best approach is."
Several commentators questioned Roma's starting line-up, with Daniele Lo Monaco and Mario Corsi both raising doubt about the choice between Rensch and Molina at left-back. Gianluca Piacentini stressed the emotional dimension: "Mourinho will enter the Olimpico and will be given the right applause, and he has earned it. He himself said that for 90 minutes we will be adversaries — that seems very straightforward to me. The Roma fan is grateful to whoever gave him so much, but then he will think about Roma winning more than Mourinho. Let's hope Roma wins 4–0 and then the Olimpico gives him the love he deserves." Nando Orsi assessed Real Madrid's current form as beatable: "Real Madrid seems more playable to me at this moment than other times. It is not one of those stellar Real Madrid sides. We saw it even against Inter. In this moment it is playable, and despite Bellingham and all the others, Roma can get a result."

Roma prepare for their Champions League match against Real Madrid at the Olimpico tonight with Gian Piero Gasperini's tactical identity intact and a squad seeking to prove competitive despite the scale of the challenge. Donyell Malen will start alongside Paulo Dybala and Matías Soulé in attack, having recovered from a recent red card at Como. Forza Roma reports that Malen will appear at Gasperini's pre-match press conference at 13:30, with training to follow at 15:00, while former Roma manager José Mourinho will hold his own press conference at 18:00 ahead of his return to the Olimpico.
Radio Roma's pre-match roundtable offered contrasting assessments of Roma's chances. Several hosts identified tactical opportunities: Checco Oddo Casano singled out Real Madrid's Huijsen as vulnerable to Malen's movement, while Nando Orsi suggested Real Madrid are "more playable" than in previous seasons. However, Mario Corsi and Francesca Ferrazza struck more cautious notes, with Corsi arguing that "the only chance we have is to have an extraordinary coach" and Ferrazza noting the environment appears preoccupied with Mourinho's return rather than believing in an upset. Lorenzo Pes expressed confidence in Gasperini's approach, expecting "a beautiful match" where Roma play consciously within their means. Defensive concerns remain unresolved, with GialloRossi.net noting debate over the left-back position between Rensch and Molina, while Leonardo Balerdi pushes for minutes and either Evan N'Dicka or Mario Hermoso may be rested.
