Roma vs Fiorentina: Away fans banned from Olimpico
The National Observatory for Sports Events (ONMS) has banned Fiorentina supporters from attending Roma's Serie A opener on Monday 24 August at the Olimpico. The decision prevents fans from Florence and the surrounding province from making the trip to watch the first big match of the 2026–27 season, which will see Gasperini's newly selected squad take the field in giallorosso colours for the first time under the Friedkin Group's approved restored crest. The ban follows violent clashes between Roma and Fiorentina supporters on a motorway in January 2025. Those incidents led to the suspension of away travel for both sets of fans until the end of the 2025–26 season. The ONMS has now extended restrictions ahead of the new campaign, forcing Fiorentina fans to watch the fixture from home as Roma prepare to open their domestic challenge.
