Roma takes time on Garnacho; loan deal only option for now
Roma are exploring alternatives to Mason Greenwood and have identified Alejandro Garnacho as a leading target. The 22-year-old left winger, born in Madrid but Argentine by nationality, spent his youth career at Manchester United but has not developed as expected. Garnacho fits the profile Gian Piero Gasperini has sought for a year—a left-sided attacking player with a right foot. In initial talks with Chelsea, Roma's sporting director proposed a loan deal without an obligation to buy. Chelsea have rejected that approach. The Blues invested 45 million euros plus bonuses for the 2004-born player a year ago and want to recoup money through a permanent sale at this stage. A loan arrangement appears more likely only from mid-August onwards rather than early July. Roma also admire Ndoye but do not consider him a primary option and wish to explore other profiles before pursuing the former Bologna player, now at Nottingham Forest. The name of Nusa has recently resurfaced in discussions, though RB Leipzig's asking price is prohibitive.
