Giorgio De Marzi, a 2007-born goalkeeper from Roma's youth academy, spoke about his experience training regularly with the first team during the 2025–26 season. The young player, who also represents the United States Under-19 national team, discussed his development and the emotion of stepping onto the Stadio Olimpico pitch. "Every time I come down the stairs it is really an emotion," De Marzi said. "The warm-up, when I come out, my first time was really moving. I was completely focused in front of all these people. Yes, beautiful, really emotional. It is difficult to describe in words, especially for a boy who has always been in Rome. It is a great satisfaction."
De Marzi emphasised the goalkeeper's evolving role in modern football. "The goalkeeper must first know how to save. We don't go in circles. It is fundamental, the role was born for that," he explained. "Then over time it evolved and became, in my opinion, a central and important figure for the team, because you are the extra player who allows the team to do possession and things like that." He highlighted his relationship with senior goalkeepers Mile Svilar and Pierluigi Gollini, saying they form a united group. On his own development, De Marzi noted: "This year was the first in which I really felt I was part of a team game in which I was used very much with my feet. I improved a lot this year, but I believe there are still many margins for improvement."
De Marzi has won youth scudetti at Under-16 and Under-17 levels and cited Manuel Neuer as a goalkeeper who influenced his playing style. On wearing the Roma shirt, he said: "It is really a special thing to wear the Roma jersey. Every so often we must remember it, because sometimes we forget, but it is important to keep it in mind."
