Verre praises D'Amico's competence and speaks positively of Gasperini's impact at Roma
Valerio Verre, a midfielder who played for Roma and currently plays for Perugia, gave an interview discussing his experience with Tony D'Amico, Roma's sporting director, whom he knew during his time at Hellas Verona. Verre described D'Amico as highly competent and dedicated, saying: "A very great memory. He brought me from Perugia, from Serie B, and made me have my first real experience as a protagonist. That season at Hellas Verona went very well. He's a very competent director, he knows a lot about football and he lives the squad. Every day he's at training and wants to have a relationship with all the players. This is certainly an added value." Verre expressed optimism about head coach Gian Piero Gasperini's first season at Roma, noting surprise at the team's progress. He acknowledged that Gasperini demands physical and technically gifted players to execute his tactical system and compared him favourably to other demanding coaches, including Ivan Juric, under whom Roma achieved important results. Verre stated: "This year Gasperini has pleasantly surprised me with what he did with the team. With 3-4 players of his level, known by Gasperini, why not… Obviously with the Champions League you'll play every three days, but with Gasperini I'm confident because he's a strong, strong coach." Verre also reflected on his brief Roma career, remembering a viral moment when a fan was filmed spending €26 to watch him play in a Europa League match against Slovan Bratislava.
