Bagnulo: Greenwood is a PSG-level player; Vaz price was a surprise

Guido Angelozzi, now sporting director at Spezia and formerly sporting director at Cagliari until June 2026, has revealed the details of his dealings with Roma last year. Speaking on Radiolina, he said Cagliari were close to signing Niccolò Pisilli, the Roma academy product, and that Cagliari had been trying to sign Romano. Angelozzi said Roma sporting director Massara had refused to let Romano go completely. Angelozzi spent a year at Cagliari before leaving by mutual agreement at the end of last season, after the club's president wanted to change direction. He said Cagliari are continuing the path set out last year under a young coach in his first managerial role. Romano had been managed by Cagliari for some years, Angelozzi said, and last year Cagliari were taking him on, but Massara would not fully release him. Angelozzi praised Cagliari for a big signing and congratulated the director who brought the player in, saying the player has an important future. He said: "Massara ci aveva detto no per Romano. Ed eravamo vicini a Pisilli." He added: "Sono contento che sia arrivato a Cagliari, sia per lui che per Pisilli. A gennaio stavamo prendendo anche lui, ma non è stato possibile."

Roma are reportedly back in contact over Real Madrid forward Endrick and Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens as possible January reinforcements, while Paulo Dybala and Manu Koné are still absent from training ahead of Saturday's match against Sassuolo. According to Matteo Moretto, D'Amico continues to talk with the entourage of Endrick, who has been little used by Mourinho. The win came after heavy defeats to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Cherubini, a winger born in 2004, returned to the starting line-up on Saturday in a 3-0 win at Arezzo. He played 74 minutes and twice came close to scoring, first with a spectacular scissor kick that was saved by goalkeeper Nunziante, then with a shot that hit the post. He started again on Tuesday in a 1-1 home draw with Catanzaro. Roma's first team is running smoothly under Gian Piero Gasperini, with well-targeted signings, a recognisable style and young players developing well. The problem lies with the players out on loan in Serie A and abroad, who have struggled to establish themselves. Some were signed under the previous management of Massara, others under Ghisolfi, and some have been drifting between clubs since the Mourinho era. Setting aside Romano and Baldanzi, who both have an obligation to buy, Cherubini has made 7 appearances and scored one goal for Benevento. Salah Eddine, who moved to Panathinaikos in September, has four appearances in total, and it is still too early to judge him. Robinio Vaz's start at Hull City has been disappointing: no starts, only a few minutes late in matches, and no goals. The Frenchman cost 25 million in January and is not finding a place in the side as he did under Gasperini. Mannini, who has also moved to Benevento, has no starts. Dovbyk risks returning as early as January. Palladino never picks him, preferring Osteegard in the unusual role of centre-forward given Piccoli's absence.
