Via di Trigoria, a major road in southern Rome, has reopened following nine months of construction work. The street, which suffered severe damage from pine tree roots that created dangerous surface deformations, has now been fully renovated. The IX Municipality invested €3 million in the project, which included resurfacing the entire road, updating signage, installing protective guardrails in certain sections, and upgrading public lighting. The road is essential not only for the 183,000 residents of the IX Municipality and the Trigoria area, but also for thousands of Romans and commuters heading to the coast, the Castel Romano commercial zone, or Pomezia. AS Roma players regularly use the road to reach the club's training centre.
Ludovica Tranquilli, the IX Municipality's public works assessor, acknowledged the collaborative effort required to complete the project. She stated: "An important and proper thanks goes, first and foremost, to the families living in the section affected by the closure—in these months they were part of the work team. It would not have been possible to carry out this type of complex intervention, so intricate in terms of coordination and timescales, without the important support of the citizens, the neighbourhood committee, the Trigoria Alta consortium, the Vicariate, AS Roma with whom we established a working table years ago that imagined, designed and realized the intervention of which tomorrow the first completed part will be visible."
Work is expected to shift soon to the Piazzale Dino Viola section, located near the AS Roma training centre.
