Simplicio and Castan reunite: two Roma legends cross paths

Mario Hermoso has signalled Roma's readiness to begin the new season following the conclusion of the club's opening week of pre-season training at Trigoria. Hermoso had been forced off during a friendly against the Primavera after a heavy knock below the knee, though the issue does not appear to concern Gasperini, who intends to continue raising the intensity ahead of the campaign's start. Roma have completed their first week of retreat, which included double training sessions and the friendly fixture against the youth side. Gasperini appears satisfied with the player's status and remains focused on building momentum and fitness levels as preparation intensifies for the new season.

Roma are pursuing Summerville to fill the most glaring weakness in Gian Piero Gasperini's tactical system. The club has identified a right-footed attacking winger—capable of playing as a trequartista or winger on the left—as the top priority for the new season, with sporting director D'Amico now working alongside Gasperini to address the gap. The void has persisted for seasons. Throughout August, the club sought a loan deal for a right-footed attacking option without success, pursuing targets including Fabio Silva (who remained at his club with one year remaining on his contract) and Jadon Sancho via videoconference. January brought only unsuccessful temporary deals for Bryan Zaragoza and Lorenzo Venturino, alongside the unproven centre-forward gamble of Robinio Vaz, signed for €25 million. AS Roma has launched phase 1.2 of its 2026–27 season-ticket campaign, with supporters who purchased a tessera for the first time in the previous season now able to secure their seat at the Stadio Olimpico. From today through 22 July, fans can exercise their right of first refusal to confirm the same place they occupied in the previous campaign. The campaign follows a structured calendar: from 23 to 25 July, the club will open a technical window for those wishing to change sector or seat among remaining available options. The official start of general ticket sales has been scheduled for Monday, 27 July. The rollout comes as head coach Gian Piero Gasperini oversees squad preparation at Trigoria.
