Rosella Sensi, former Roma president, has praised the Friedkin family and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini following the club's return to the Champions League after seven years, having finished third in Serie A. In an interview, Sensi said: "The Roma has closed in third place despite there being much scepticism around the squad, perhaps not from the Romans, but certainly from outside. And we managed it. I want to compliment the squad, society and above all coach Gasperini who, in my opinion, beyond being a great coach has also become a great Roman."
Sensi highlighted the significance of Gasperini's swift adaptation to the Roman environment despite initial doubts about his fit. "At first there was much scepticism about the possible relationship between Gasperini and the Roman setting, also because of his past. Instead I believe he managed to adapt very quickly. I was struck by the naturalness with which he entered the Roman spirit, managing to create immediately harmony not only with the squad, but also with the whole city," she said. She also credited the Friedkin family's stewardship, saying they had worked extensively to recreate enthusiasm and a sense of belonging around Roma.
Looking ahead to the centenary season, Sensi acknowledged that the 25th anniversary of Roma's 2001 Serie A title also falls this year. She stressed the importance of unity and supporter backing, noting that "enthusiasm and union can make the difference" as the club aims to build on its Champions League qualification.
