Roma unveil 1990s-inspired EQT t-shirt with classic crest and Adidas trefoil

Adidas has revealed the first images of a new Roma lifestyle t-shirt from its EQT (Equipment) collection, designed with 1990s aesthetics. The shirt features a white base with the characteristic geometric EQT motif across the shoulders rendered in the club's yellow and red colours. The Adidas Trefoil logo sits on the chest above the Roma She-wolf badge and a vintage "AS Roma" text. The release follows earlier announcements of Roma's centenary kit line. This EQT lifestyle collection is part of a broader Adidas initiative spanning several major clubs including Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, all drawing on 1990s design elements.

Rome's Mayor Roberto Gualtieri said on Radio Radio that the bureaucratic process for AS Roma's new stadium has concluded and construction will begin in 2027. The technical project has been approved, Roma Capitale can proceed with the tender, and the executive project will follow. Construction is expected to take two and a half years, with the stadium potentially ready by the second half of 2029. Gualtieri described the approval as historic for its speed and called the new ground one of the world's most beautiful stadiums. The structure will be relatively small in capacity but with extraordinary sightlines from every seat. Acoustic specifications will include a bowl effect to keep noise loud inside but inaudible outside the stadium — a specific request from the city. The Pietralata area will undergo broader regeneration with extensive green space for citizens, to be maintained by Roma. Transport planning included dedicated access for the nearby hospital and prevention of traffic gridlock, with heavy reliance on the metro line stopping at the stadium entrance. Gualtieri said: "There's been a great investment, it will be one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. The visibility will be extraordinary, the stadium in terms of size is relatively small and from anywhere you can see it extraordinarily. At the same time there will be a broader regeneration of the area. Many hectares of green space for citizens and maintenance will be Roma's responsibility. The Pietralata area will become a jewel." He added: "Dan Friedkin from the beginning wanted a stadium unique in its kind and not a facility you can find anywhere. The president wanted to hear my opinion too. There's a lot of satisfaction, after so much bluffing and so much sun (laughs) the stadium will be built." Gualtieri denied ever fearing the stadium would not be realised, noting the area previously contained illegal buildings and serious neglect. He said the city remained confident throughout the process, adding that challenges through legal appeals were routine but that justice ultimately recognised the truth.

Roma have made an impressive start to the season under Gasperini, currently joint-top of Serie A alongside Inter with four wins and a draw. Max Tonetto, a former Roma player, assessed the team's progress and ambitions in comments to Radio Radio. He said: "Roma must be competitive on all fronts, that must be the objective. The match against Inter was certainly indicative and Gasperini's work is visible after a year. Winning this year won't be easy, Inter are still ahead." Tonetto reflected on Roma's recent history of near-misses and trophy success. "We had a good cycle: three second-place finishes and three trophies, coming close to the Scudetto as well. I believe a cycle of victories is part of a process and mentality that a team must reach to arrive at certain targets." He emphasised that sustained success requires more than a single season's effort, linking trophy wins to a broader strategic approach. Looking ahead, Tonetto backed the direction Gasperini's project is taking. "Reaching the end of competitions is part of a process, winning trophies is linked to a series of elements. This process has begun and in quick times something important could arrive," he said. The comments reflect optimism about Roma's trajectory while acknowledging that Inter remain the benchmark for the title race.
