Roma's pursuit of several attacking targets has shifted dramatically on the final day of the transfer window. Malick Fofana, whom Roma had long courted, has joined Sunderland in a deal worth €30 million plus bonuses. The focus has now turned to Mandela Keita, the 24-year-old Parma midfielder, with discussions under way between Roma and the club over a potential move, though Everton are also following the player closely in the closing hours of the window.
Two Juventus players—Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners, both 28—were proposed to Roma in recent days, but the club decided not to pursue either. Gonzalez's negotiations never truly took off, while Koopmeiners did not fit the club's plans, and both will remain at Turin. The most significant setback came with Jamie Leweling. Roma had reached an agreement with Stuttgart and was waiting only for the 25-year-old German's approval, but he has chosen to stay at Stuttgart, rejecting proposals from Roma and other clubs, including a late offer from Everton overnight.
With Leweling's door now closed, Roma have revived their interest in Luiz Henrique, the 25-year-old Brazilian winger. Negotiations suffered a setback on 31 August over agent fees, but talks remain active. Roma have already agreed terms with Zenit on the structure: a loan with a €5 million fee and a €30 million purchase option. The club is keeping the Brazilian alternative alive as the window enters its final stretch.
The transfer market closes at 20:00 today (1 September 2026). Roma and all other Serie A clubs have only hours remaining to complete their business.
