Roma to unveil new sporting director Tony D'Amico at press conference next week

Lorenzo Pellegrini will not be present when Roma begin their summer training camp at Trigoria on Monday 13 July under Gian Piero Gasperini. The midfielder's absence is due to his outstanding contract renewal — which has not yet been formally signed — and an injury sustained late in the previous season. Pellegrini is expected to join Gasperini's squad in the days following the opening of the retreat, as his contract extension is close to completion. The same applies to Zeki Çelik, whose renewal negotiations are similarly advanced. Roma are preparing for the new season after appointing Gasperini as head coach.

Mats Hummels shared a photo on Instagram wearing a France shirt gifted to him by Roma midfielder Manu Koné, paying tribute to his former teammate with the caption: "A great thank you to my French friend!" The two players spent one season together at Roma's Trigoria training ground, where their friendship has endured since. Roma's players will report to Trigoria on 13 July for the official start of the 2026–27 season, and next week will also see the press conference presentation of new sporting director Tony D'Amico. D'Amico will be introduced to the Roma fanbase and will have the opportunity to discuss the club's market strategy with journalists. The timing of the presentation means Gasperini will have no new signings available at the start of pre-season training. D'Amico is expected to address several key issues during his appearance, including inbound transfer targets, outgoing departures, and contract renewal negotiations with existing squad members.
