Roma's summer transfer window has gathered pace following the midnight arrival of Castro from Bologna at Termini station to a crowd of supporters on Monday, pending official confirmation. AS Roma has appointed John Galantic as Chief Executive Officer. The Swiss-American manager of Italian descent previously sat on Roma's board and at Ferrari, and is a club supporter. The Friedkin ownership expressed full confidence in his leadership, describing him as the ideal figure to guide the club into its second century during a season marked by a return to the Champions League and the club's centenary celebrations. Roma are accelerating their pursuit of Greek defender Konstantinos Koulierakis from Wolfsburg. The club has reportedly reached agreement in principle with the player's representatives and is now working to finalise terms with the German club. Separately, Roma continue talks with Real Betis over winger Abde Ezzalzouli, with director Tony D'Amico seeking to close the gap between the clubs' valuations. Former manager Claudio Ranieri, now Italy's technical director, reflected on his decision to reject the Italy job last year, saying: "Every time I have decided with my heart I have never regretted it. I could not break my contract with Roma, my team of the heart. There would have been conflicts of interest and, reluctantly, I was forced to say no. Today I feel no sense of rivalry towards Roma."
