Roma pay tribute to Lino Banfi on his 90th birthday

Gian Piero Gasperini will be bolstered by three new members of his backroom team from Monday. The additions comprise Riccardo Del Vescovo as the new head of medical services, alongside two technical collaborators: Jacopo Sbravati and Alessandro Pilati. Sbravati, a former Primavera coach at Genoa, is the son of Michele Sbravati, who served as Genoa's youth academy director for over fifteen years from 2008 to 2024 and developed numerous top-level talents. Pilati is an established fitness coach from Genoa, where he worked almost continuously from 2004 to 2025. Both figures enjoy Gasperini's full confidence and will join Roma's technical staff. The recruitment represents the first tangible movement at the club's Trigoria training base as the club awaits incoming transfers during the summer window and works on contract renewals. Gasperini is expected to receive further additions to his squad shortly.

Alessandro Onorato, Rome's assessor for Sport and Major Events, expressed optimism that AS Roma's new stadium project at Pietralata is approaching a decisive stage. Speaking on the AdnTalks programme, Onorato highlighted the work undertaken by the city administration and the city council led by mayor Roberto Gualtieri. "The Roma stadium seems to me in the final stretch; there too with the mayor and the council we have all shown great efficiency," Onorato said. The Pietralata stadium remains one of Roma's longest-running infrastructure goals. Onorato positioned the project as part of a broader effort by the city administration to move beyond a pattern of postponements and preventative blocks on sporting facilities. He contrasted this approach with the wider national picture, where sports stadium projects are frequently discussed but rarely completed. "I believe sports facilities must be built; they are discussed all over Italy and never actually built. We are demonstrating that we can set aside the nos and deliver yeses that respect the rules," Onorato stated. Meanwhile, Onorato noted that Lazio's separate stadium project is currently undergoing a formal service conference, with a technical assessment expected "within very few days" from state authorities and relevant offices to determine compatibility.

Roma opened the Stadio Olimpico to supporters on the previous day to launch its 2026–27 season ticket campaign, and the response was immediate: 11,000 fans renewed their subscriptions in a single day. The campaign began at 10:00 on that morning, with existing ticket holders given priority to renew their seats at a dedicated price until 10:00 on 20 July. A second phase runs from 12:00 on 20 July to 12:00 on 23 July for those who bought via waiting list or free sale last season. Phase 1.3 (14:30 on 23 July to 13:00 on 27 July) will offer remaining available seats across all sections. From 15:00 on 27 July to 13:00 on 29 July, fans on the waiting list get priority access; free sale begins at 15:00 on 29 July if spaces remain. The rush reflects the depth of supporter commitment ahead of the season opener on 24 August at the Olimpico against Fiorentina. Last season, approximately 1.6 million spectators attended Roma's home matches. Currently, 26,982 fans are on the waiting list, and not all are guaranteed to secure a ticket for the upcoming campaign. The club thanked supporters for their faith and backing during the season, acknowledging the significance of the fanbase to the organisation.
