Roma backs disability rights with community sports event

Manchester United have taunted Roma on social media after coming from two goals down to win at Old Trafford. The mockery adds to a painful night for Roma, who had controlled large parts of the match before losing their grip on it.

Tensions boiled over at the final whistle of Manchester United v Roma, with contact between police and Giallorossi supporters after the match. Three people were arrested, and another Roma fan suffered a medical episode during the clashes. Doctors intervened and prevented the worst outcome. Some fans have denounced their treatment, saying: "Treated like animals", both before and after the match. The trouble started before kick-off, with further contact with police during pre-filtering and one Roma supporter arrested. Throughout the 90 minutes, the travelling fans reportedly faced constant provocation from the English supporters. After Manchester United's third goal, coins and pieces of sandwich were thrown from the stands towards the Roma section. The incidents overshadowed the fixture for the Giallorossi travelling support, with the complaints about police handling now likely to draw attention to how visiting fans are policed in England.

Former Roma forward Gervinho has revealed that Inter, Juventus and AC Milan all made approaches for him before he joined the club from Arsenal in 2013. Speaking to IlovePalermoCalcio.com, the Ivorian, who also played for Parma in Italy, described the interest he received during that period. "Many came forward at that time. Inter had made an approach before I signed for Roma, but Juventus were also there. Milan had also asked for information. But when Roma called me, with Rudi Garcia, whom I knew very well, I did not hesitate for long," said Gervinho. Gervinho, whose full name is Gervais Lombe Yao Kouassi, was at the club until 2016. He scored 26 goals and provided 17 assists in 88 appearances for Roma, and his decision to join was shaped by his existing relationship with Garcia, who was in charge of the club at the time.
