Niccolò Pisilli has expressed his commitment to Roma's future, dismissing suggestions he could depart the club. Speaking ahead of Italy's match against Greece, the midfielder said: "I have a special bond with Roma, with the squad and with the fans, everyone knows that. I don't understand why I should leave Roma."
Pisilli enjoyed a breakthrough campaign after struggling for opportunities early in the season. "At the start of the year I found it hard to get playing time, but I always tried to train well, give my best and understand what Gasperini wanted," he explained. "In December I had more chances, and then the season finished in the best way possible for me and the squad." The 20-year-old praised new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, noting similarities in philosophy with his predecessor Daniele De Rossi: both coaches emphasise pressing and closing down opponents aggressively.
On expectations for Roma's centenary season, Pisilli urged caution. "Pre-season hasn't even started, so it's quite mad to talk about objectives now," he said. "Every squad starts aiming for the maximum, then you see during the season what the real objectives are. To talk about it now is approximate." His immediate focus is the Greece fixture, followed by rest before concentrating fully on pre-season preparation.
