Pedro retires at 39, snubs Roma in farewell video

Roma's travelling support has sold out their allocation for the Champions League trip to Manchester United on 3 November at 21:00, the fixture for the fourth matchday of the league phase. The away tickets went in less than a full day, reflecting strong demand from the capital's supporters who have had limited opportunities to follow their team away from the Stadio Olimpico during difficult months. Roma supporters will have another chance to travel this weekend when the club visits Como on Sunday.

Antonio Arena, Roma's young striker, has been named among the 60 most promising players born in 2009 globally in a list compiled by The Guardian. The Primavera talent has already scored for the first team in the Coppa Italia and regularly features in Gasperini's matchday squads for Serie A fixtures, demonstrating qualities that set him apart from his peers. Arena's inclusion reflects his early impact at Roma, where he has attracted the attention of head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who frequently calls him up for league matches. The recognition underscores the talent emerging from the club's academy and the confidence placed in him by the first-team staff. The Guardian's list also includes Riccardo Cassano of Como and Destiny Elimoghale of Juventus among the 60 young players identified as prospects.

Pedro Rodríguez announced his retirement from professional football at 39 on social media, ending a lengthy career across Spain, England and Italy. In his career retrospective video, the Spanish forward highlighted achievements with Barcelona and the Spanish national team, his time at Chelsea, and his final five seasons at Lazio. Notably absent from his farewell was any reference to his spell at Roma, an omission that has drawn attention from the club's supporters. Pedro arrived at Roma in summer 2020 for a single season. When José Mourinho took charge of the club, the Spaniard fell out of the new project and left for Lazio in the following summer, where he would spend the next five years. The decision to exclude Roma from his career summary has sparked discussion among Giallorossi fans, particularly given that his time in the Eternal City remains a legitimate chapter of his professional history. Pedro departs as one of Spain's most decorated players of his generation, a World Cup and European Championship winner with the national team and a key contributor to Barcelona's success and Chelsea's silverware. Yet in his final statement on football, Roma found no mention.
