Roma's Primavera drew 1–1 with Lecce on 4 September, with Terlizzi equalising after the hosts had taken the lead. The squad showed character in their response, refusing to surrender and pressing for a winner in the closing stages—a sign of the mentality being built under coach Scala.
Scala reflected on the performance with measured satisfaction. "The will to win straight after finding the equaliser was there, we never gave up, and that's something we emphasise with the staff from the start of the season," he said. "We're satisfied with the reaction of the lads. They didn't fall apart after the opposition's goal, they responded well to the change in system, and the five substitutions helped us maintain intensity and pace, allowing us to equalise." He identified continuity as the main area for improvement. "We need to be more consistent during matches, both technically and psychologically. We live certain moments too much, fail to stay focused, and occasionally disconnect—which gives opponents courage and puts us in difficulty. That's what we must work on; there are small improvements but it's not yet enough. I'm satisfied with the football we played, the intensity and commitment the lads showed today on a very difficult pitch."
Attention now turns to the UEFA Youth League, where Roma face Fenerbahçe in a competition that has been absent from the club's youth setup for several years. Scala confirmed the preparation will remain unchanged: "It will always be the same. It doesn't change in relation to the match or opponent we face. There's certainly a different emotion because we're starting a path that's been missing from Roma's youth sector for many years. Our work doesn't change, though."
