Roma set deadline for Greenwood decision
Roma have issued an ultimatum to Mason Greenwood, demanding he respond within days to their improved contract offer after nearly two months of negotiations. The club will not wait indefinitely and has signalled they will pivot to another primary target if Greenwood continues to delay, with owner the Friedkin Group unwilling to be drawn into a bidding war. The hold-up stems from Greenwood's father Andrew, who is attempting to engineer an auction for his son's registration rights rather than accept Roma's proposal. Andrew reportedly favours a move to Fenerbahce, but the Turkish club has never matched Marseille's asking price of almost 50 million euros—Fenerbahce spent a maximum of 28 million to sign Guendouzi from Lazio in January. Other suitors including Atlético Madrid have made advances, but the Friedkin Group is not swayed by outside interest. Mason has held multiple discussions with head coach Gasperini in Andrew's presence, though these have reportedly amounted to preliminaries so far. Roma remain focused solely on their own objective and have now paused to await the Greenwoods' response, making clear they will not remain inactive for long.
