AS Roma's proposed new stadium at Pietralata has passed a critical administrative milestone after the State Superintendent's office issued a positive environmental impact assessment. The approval was published on the Rome City Council website and carries no objections to the release of the environmental impact evaluation (VIA). The ruling comes with a series of binding requirements focused on protecting archaeological remains found in the project area. Archaeological excavations must be completed before construction work begins. The developer must incorporate the Roman villa discovered on the site into the stadium design, and a Roman cistern in the area must be integrated into the new facility's plans. Tunnels that emerged during survey work require further study, and any potential demolition will require approval from the Lazio Regional Commission for Cultural Heritage. The Superintendent also mandated improvements to the site's landscaping, including an increase in the number of trees, greater vegetation diversity, and green screening solutions for the parking structures.
