Fabbri to referee Como–Roma as Serie A returns from international break
Michael Fabbri has been appointed referee for Como–Roma, a Serie A fixture scheduled for Sunday 11 October at 12:30 at the Stadio Sinigaglia. The match marks the league's return following the international break and falls on matchday six. Fabbri will be supported by assistants Imperiale and Baccini, with Sozza as fourth official. Gariglio takes the VAR role and Abisso the AVAR position. Fabbri, from the Ravenna section, brings considerable history with Roma into the fixture. He has refereed the club on 19 previous occasions, recording a record of 9 victories, 4 draws and 6 defeats. His last encounter with Roma came in January away at Atalanta, a match that finished 1–0 to the Bergamaschi and was marked by controversy. Scalvini's goal was confirmed despite Roma's protests over contact on Svilar, while Scamacca's effort was disallowed following a lengthy VAR review for an initial offside position. Another contentious meeting between Fabbri and Roma occurred in the 3–4 defeat to Sassuolo in 2023, when Kumbulla was sent off for a challenge on Berardi; Roma protested over a preceding incident involving the same Sassuolo forward that, in their view, should have resulted in an earlier dismissal. Sunday's encounter will be Fabbri's twentieth appointment involving Roma, arriving at a moment when both sides hold significant standing in the table and the technical quality of the contest itself is considerable.
