Dovbyk progressing well in recovery, says specialist Lempainen
Artem Dovbyk is preparing to return to action for Roma's final Serie A matches of the season following a left thigh muscle injury sustained in early January against Lecce. The Ukrainian striker underwent surgery on his rectus femoris and has been sidelined for over four months. He is expected to train with the squad next week as part of his rehabilitation. Dovbyk has regularly travelled to Finland in recent weeks to work with Professor Lempainen, a renowned sports surgeon, on his recovery programme. Lempainen provided an update on the player's progress, stating on Instagram: "It was fantastic to welcome Artem Dovbyk to Turku for the return-to-play test following rectus femoris surgery. The testing process went very well and showed strong progress in his rehabilitation journey. These moments are an important part of ensuring that an athlete is not only ready to return to play, but soon ready to perform safely and effectively at the highest level. Thank you to Roma for excellent collaboration and trust throughout the entire process." The surgeon emphasised the importance of structured rehabilitation in elite sport, noting that return to play is a milestone but return to peak performance is the standard. Roma are collaborating closely with Lempainen's team to ensure Dovbyk's safe and complete recovery before his competitive return.
