Kerim Alajbegovic, the young Bosnian striker at Bayer Leverkusen, has made clear his preference to join Roma. His father Semin has travelled to Rome multiple times and was seen dining with Miralem Pjanic, who is handling the transfer discussions. Leverkusen signed Alajbegovic from Salzburg for €8 million and now value him at a minimum of €20 million, potentially €25 million, with the German club already deciding to sell him and secure a quick profit.
Alajbegovic is attracted to Roma because he knows Gasperini practises attacking football and because Roma is one of only two Italian clubs—alongside Napoli—that will play Champions League football next season. Napoli, Fiorentina, and Atalanta are also interested, but the striker has Roma at the top of his list. However, Gasperini has some doubts given that Alajbegovic will turn 19 on 21 September, meaning he remains very young with limited international experience. For a Champions League season, the coach reportedly prefers something more certain and established.
Roma are also monitoring other attacking options. On the left flank, they are tracking Crysencio Summerville, the Dutch striker at West Ham, though West Ham are likely to wait until after the World Cup to sell him in hopes of maximising profit. The club are also following Greek forward Tzolis of Bruges and Slovak winger Sauer of Feyenoord, whom Roma pursued extensively in January.
